If a device is online for over 14 days, it may be missing critical security patches that have been installed but not fully applied. Remind users to reboot regularly by sending an OS notification if a device hasn't been rebooted in 2 weeks.

I'm pleased to confirm that we have now implemented this.

Users will now receive a notification similar to the one in the screenshot below. This will happen automatically if your system has been online for over 14 days without a reboot.

There is some logic in this code to prevent 'nagging':

How it works

  • Our System works out if your system has been online for 14 days, if so then proceed to next step, if not, abort

  • Check if a notification has already been sent today, if not, proceed to next step, if so, abort

  • Send notification and save a log of the notification to prevent repeat notifications on the same day

This process happens every 1 hour, but you will receive no more than 1 notification per day. It will persist on your machine until you dismiss it.

This change has been documented in our Knowledgebase, and users who haven't rebooted in over 14 days should begin to see this notification on their systems soon!
